Claude + Shopify | Finding growth opportunities in your store's data
Share
Sooner or later, every Shopify store hits a spot where growth just stalls. It is frustrating, especially when Shopify Analytics has so many variables that it is hard to know where to even start looking. The good news is you are probably not missing some hidden trick. You are more likely sitting on data that already tells you what to fix, you just have not pointed the right tool at it yet. Here is my exact process for using Claude to find real growth opportunities in a Shopify store's data, then turning what it finds into an actual fix.
Why Stores Hit a Growth Plateau
Every store eventually runs into what I call the dead zone, a stretch where growth flattens out and it is not obvious why. Shopify Analytics can technically answer that question, but between sales, sessions, customers, and conversion data spread across different reports, it takes real effort to connect the dots. Most people either give up and guess what to build next, or spend hours cross referencing reports that still do not point to a clear next step.
Three Ways I Have Tried to Make Sense of Shopify Data
Before Claude existed, my process was manual. I would go into Shopify Analytics inside the admin and build different reports to gain insight, one metric at a time. When Shopify released Sidekick, its own built in AI, I started relying on it to dig through analytics and generate reports for me. It still has a place if I am in a pinch, but it honestly does not always give me the depth I am looking for.
Eventually I realized Claude was simply better at making sense of the data. Instead of just reporting a number, it would actually spot a pattern. So for a while my workaround was screenshotting or downloading reports from Shopify Analytics and feeding them into Claude to get sharper insights than Sidekick was giving me.
Connecting Claude Directly to Your Shopify Store
Now I skip that manual screenshotting step entirely. Inside Claude, go to Settings, then Connectors, and search for the Shopify connector. Connect your store and walk through the authorization screens. Once it is connected, Claude can reference your real store data whenever you ask, no copying and pasting required.
From there, you can prompt your way into real answers. A good starting prompt is asking Claude to look at your store's sales, customers, and sessions from the last 30 days and tell you where the biggest opportunity is. In my own test store, that surfaced that the returning customer rate was already solid and the real opportunity was traffic, meaning there was no reason to rebuild anything on the site itself. If your data points somewhere else, like a specific page underperforming, that tells you to focus on building rather than driving more traffic to something that is not converting.
Prompts That Actually Surface Growth Opportunities
The real value comes from asking comparative questions rather than requesting a single statistic. Instead of asking what your top products are, which you can already see in the Shopify admin, ask Claude to compare something, like this month's revenue by traffic source, or which products get plenty of traffic but convert below your store average. Two questions worth trying on any store: which products are frequently bought together and should be bundled, and where in the funnel you are actually losing people when comparing sessions to completed checkouts. Both would normally take a lot of manual digging, and Claude can answer them directly.
Turning Insights Into Fixes with Flexi
Once Claude has flagged what is and is not working, I use it to act on that insight, editing copy directly in the store, or connecting it to apps like Klaviyo to fix a flow. When the fix goes beyond a small copy tweak, I grab a section from my own app, Flexi, available on the Shopify App Store. Once installed, you can drop any section straight into your theme editor in just a few clicks, so a data driven fix can go live the same day you find it.

This covers the core process, but seeing the actual Claude connection and the prompts in action on screen makes it much easier to copy for your own store.
