Quick Start Guide to Flexi: Build Shopify Stores Faster
Brandon LandgraffWhat is Flexi?
Flexi is a modular section library designed to speed up Shopify theme development without sacrificing control. It works with any Shopify 2.0 theme, outputs clean Tailwind-based markup, and gives developers the flexibility to build fast, performance-focused storefronts.
Whether you're an agency building across multiple client stores, a freelancer working on custom themes, or a developer extending Shopify with composable blocks, Flexi helps you build faster with less overhead.
Step 1: Install the Flexi App
Head to the Shopify App Store and install the Flexi app on your store. Once installed, you’ll find it in your Shopify admin under "Apps."
Note: Make sure to enable the Flexi app embed in your theme. This loads global styles used across all Flexi sections.
Step 2: Add Your First Section
Inside the Flexi app, navigate to the "Sections" tab. From here, you can browse the available sections and click "Add to Theme" to inject them directly into your theme’s section library.
These sections are fully compatible with Shopify 2.0 and appear in your theme editor just like any native section.
Step 3: Customize in Theme Editor
Open your theme customizer and locate the section you added. You’ll be able to:
- Choose from different layout options
- Add and rearrange content blocks
- Adjust spacing, colors, and visibility settings
Flexi sections are built with consistent naming, clean structure, and optional dev mode support so you can pass classes, use custom styles, or hook into JS functionality as needed.
Step 4: Build at Scale
Flexi is made for scale:
- Reuse sections across stores
- Customize easily with Tailwind or your own CSS
- Keep your theme clean and performance-optimized
And because Flexi doesn’t bloat your theme with unnecessary code, you can maintain long-term stability as your storefront grows.
